Thanks to global media outlets, we all know how easy it can be to hear, read, or watch content about groups of people or countries around the world. Oftentimes, this information is presented or shared as fact when in reality, it is based on misinformation and misconception.  So, today I hope to provide you with an informative and hopefully eye-opening article to help clarify and explain 11 of the most common misconceptions about Afghanistan. So, let's get started.  1. The National of Afghanistan Is Referred To As Being Afghani  So, this first misconception is one that, certainly provided some enlightenment as I personally have always been of the understanding that, a native or citizen of Afghanistan would be referred to as Afghani. However, through my research, I have discovered that this is a very common misconception.  The word Afghani is actually the name used for the

Trust In Allah [SWT] - He Makes Life Easier

When the Prophet [SAW] and Abu Bakr [RA] were doing the Hijra from Makkah to Medina. They took shelter in that the Quraysh were so close to finding Abu Bakr [RA] and the Prophet [SAW]. So that Abu Bakr [RA] himself began trembling. He whispered to the Prophets [SAW].  He said: “ Ya Rasulullah. They are so close, I can see their feet. If they only lo ok down they will see us”.  Our Prophet [SAW] said: “ Oh Abu Bakr, what do you think of two people the third of whom is Allah [SWT]”  That confidence and optimism calmed Abu Bakr [RA] down. When they had no army and they had no help other than Allah [SWT]. This is but one indication of a very important concept in the life of every believer. That is to have good thoughts of Allah [SWT] and to think the best of the plan of Allah [SWT]. To be optimistic. In Arabic we have “Husnul Zann”, to think the best thoughts of Allah [SWT]. This is a part and parcel of our Iman.  The believer only thinks good of Allah [SWT]. The believer does not allow hi

Power of Doing Dhikr - Remembering Allah [SWT]

Image
Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters, It is a fact of human nature. When we desire something or when we are in need of something, we are constantly thinking about that object of desire. So then, the question arises the one who claims to love Allah [SWT]. The one who understands that he needs Allah [SWT] at all times. How often do you think this person should be thinking about Allah [SWT]. The one who truly believes in Allah [SWT], understands our need towards Allah [SWT] and shows love of Allah [SWT]. This person will constantly be thinking of Allah [SWT].  In our religious tradition, the thinking of Allah [SWT] is called Dhikr. The remembrance of Allah [SWT]. Our Lord has commanded us in the Quran to remember him frequently. We praise him and mention his name in the morning and in the evening. Some of the important blessings that come from the remembrance of Allah [SWT]. These blessings are beyond number.  Dhikr of Allah [SWT] gives life to the heart. The heart is as if it is dead

Importance of Muharram - Islamic New Year 1443

Image
MUHARRAM 2021 Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,  We have commenced the new year 1443. We are in the month of Muharram. Which is the first month of the Islamic calendar. Why is this month called Muharram? Indeed the number of months in the eyes of Allah [SWT] is 12. The day that he created the heavens and the earth. From among them there are four that are haram. Haram meaning prohibited. The prophet [SAW] explains that the prohibition of commencing war, killing things or causing harm, destruction etc. These are sacred months. Muharram Rajab Dhul Khaida Dhul Hijjah If someone were to attack you during these months. You're allowed to defend yourself and to attack back. But you're not allowed to commence any form of disturbance or warfare. Be alert and be awake more than other months. Make sure that you are at peace. Not only with Allah [SWT], but even with others. Make sure you go out of your way to achieve that. May Allah [SWT] make it easy.  Similarly Muharram is the firs

Don't Show Off Your Blessings

Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters, Life is not about showing. It's a problem across the globe. Where weddings today are becoming big and fancy.  Everyone struggles the amount of money that a community spends on a wedding goes into the billions. Because every person who attends wears a new set of clothing. There are so many people who are tailors today. Because that's a booming business. We need a new set of clothing. How can I wear the same one that I wore last week?  That's an embarrassment. You can wear it. Why not? You are setting a trend that is dangerous. Our children will not be able to live it. They will have to steal to live it. They will have to do haram to live it. Let them utilize those resources in something more constructive. Just go with something plain and simple. It Looks good. May Allah [SWT] grant us forgiveness. We become such that we run behind these things if Allah [SWT] has blessed you with wealth. Alhamdulillah.  But we have a problem. We are se

Why Allah Gives Us Difficulties

Image
Sometimes people ask a question, “I am trying to be the best Muslim. Why do I have difficulties?”  My brothers and sisters, Allah [SWT] did not promise you that, you will not have difficulties. If that was the case, there would have been no challenges in the life of the best of creation Muhammed [SAW]. But Allah [SWT] promises you that he will help you through those challenges in a way that you remain content and pleased with Allah [SWT].  This is why Islam and Iman rotates around several pillars. One of these pillars is ‘I bear witness and I believe firmly that good and bad faith is actually from Allah [SWT]’. I will be pleased with it. To be happy with the decree that Allah [SWT] has chosen for you and I. This is part of our belief.  So people ask this question. I'm trying my best. Why are things still coming in my direction?  These questions are not connected. The condition of your heart is what is important. You are a happy man, you have a challenge, you are struggling to pay

Natural Disasters Caused By Human Behavior

Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters, Nowadays, Turkey, Italy, USA, Spain, France, Cyprus, Finland, Lebanon, Canada and Greece have fires. Germany, China, Belgium and the Netherlands have severe flooding. Brazil has snow. It really shocked me that so many extraordinary things are happening now. At that time, the central question was what have we done?  People that are in touch with their Fitrah. With their inherent nature. They would ask themselves what have we done. What have we done that is causing this trouble? Whenever calamities confronted them, they would always ask themselves. This is something that human beings have now completely forgotten. We have spiritual Alzheimer's disease. That's why humanity is suffering from a type of spiritual Alzheimer's disease.  We've forgotten who we are, who we belong to, where we've come from, where we're going, what we should be doing in the meantime. This is the state of humanity wherever you go, you see corruption i
